Most of us have role models whom we admire. The reasons why they are our role models can be different, but the admiration they inspire, what they represent to us, is what attracts us. They have a quality, attitude or ability, that we wish we had ourselves, and they inspire us to reach beyond ourselves. For example, they might be:

Number 1.

"I'd like to meet with David Attenborough. He's passionate about what he does, his knowledge and sensitivity are remarkable. He inspires and educates, so I'd invite him."

Number 2.

"I'd meet with Emma Thompson, the actress. She is an incredible success, but hasn't compromised who she is to achieve it. I'd like to meet her and find out how she managed it."

Number 3.

"I'd like to meet with my great grandmother. She instilled such vision and strength of purpose into the females in our family, and what she achieved inspite of the limitations of her lifestyle is humbling. She would be remarkable to chat with."

Number 4.

"I'd love to have a chat with Mohammed Ali. What an incredible sportsman, and I've always had the impression that he's a man who has a lot of depth to him."

Number 5.

"My A Level teacher at school is someone I'd want to have lunch with. He was such an inspiration to me during my formative years and helped instill in me such positive values. What I wouldn't do to have a good chat with him."

Role models can inspire us to aim for goals and achieve ambitions which we think are beyond ourselves. That goal or ambition might be to gain a higher degree, to learn to be an airline pilot or even to win the Rugby League.

It's good to have these dreams and ambitions and to have people who inspire us to go for it!
