Have you heard of CAFOD? The Catholic Agency For Overseas Development.
CAFOD is perhaps one of the best-known Catholic Aid agencies and works to alleviate poverty all over the world. Catholics sponsor it financially to do things like:

Provide running water in villages

Give greater access to medical treatment

Educate and inform
| |
And its part of our Catholic calling to help people in need whatever their race, creed or colour. |
| |
| |
Many people in our club are involved with: |
| |

Feeding the homeless through providing soup kitchens

Visiting the sick and the elderly

Assisting in schools
| |
By imitating the lives of role models we call Saints, many Catholics set aside part of their week to serve the poor and needy wherever they live and work. Have you heard of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society for example? It's a Catholic organisation which has thousands of members who selflessly offer their help as it is required. |

Further afield at HQ in The Vatican, Rome, money is given in huge quantities to directly support projects helping people who live in trouble spots throughout the world, be they in war zones or in places picking up the pieces following a natural disaster. It's not just money which is sent to these people. Many Catholics volunteer to go directly to these places to offer their professional help. |
