Life4seekers response: Miracles do happen
Catholics believe that miracles did and do happen. During the first century AD they were an important part of the ministry of Jesus Christ. Each miracle of Jesus revealed and continues to reveal today something of his identity as the Son of God. Importantly, theologians note that in the New Testament repeated references are made to the faith of the people being healed. Faith in Jesus is needed if a miracle is to take place. Miracles still happen today and are documented and examined as part of Catholic life and belief.
The signs worked by Jesus attest that the Father has sent him. They invite belief in him... So miracles strengthen faith in the One who does his Father's works; they bear witness that he is the Son of God. CCC 548
On the threshold of his public life Jesus performs his first sign - at his mother's request - during a wedding feast. The Church attaches great importance to Jesus's presence at the wedding at Cana. She sees in it the confirmation of the goodness of marriage. CCC 1613
Christ's resurrection was not a return to earthly life... In his risen body he passes from the state of death to another life beyond space and time. CCC 646
CCC denotes the name of a book called 'Catechism of the Catholic Church'. Catechism means "teaching". This book provides an authoritative summary of what the Catholic Church teaches. It explains how Catholics can live out the Bible today.
