Make up your own mind about Jesus's miracles by watching "The Miracles of Jesus" which was a three part BBC series shown in August 2006.

A Muslim and respected BBC journalist, Rageh Omaar (pictured below), asked if the miracles of Jesus really happened and what they meant then and today?

"I grew up as a Muslim, but I always knew who Jesus was... what I discovered in the making of this series is that Jesus’s chief weapon was not the sword but his miracles. And they proved to be far more revolutionary."

"I do believe in miracles.  Many things have happened in my life which have been unexplainable.  Coincidences don't happen either.  I think something supernatural is at work and for me that something or someone supernatural is the person of Jesus Christ."

The Miracle Man

A portrait of Jesus

Miracles are understood to be supernatural acts that defy the laws of nature.  In the first century AD miracles were seen as a language - a set of shared signs with meanings known only to the Jews.

The miracles possessed many layers of meaning – about history, Israel, the Romans, God and Satan, good and evil. But above all the miracles were clues to the identity of Jesus of Nazareth. So who really was he?

To question or not to question, that is the question??

Questioning is an important part of all of our lives. When it comes to things spiritual, it's an activity that no one should to feel threatened by. Spiritual and intellectual probing and exploring can help us to discover and understand the truth about ourselves, others and the world around us. In fact if we want to grow in understanding of any topic or situation, we are often helped by grappling with issues and exploring the meaning of symbols, words and actions.  This is very important. COMMENT!

? ? ?

"The only miracle I think that I have ever witnessed is being present for the birth of my child.  It was a spiritual experience."

"I just think it's a case of mind over matter. We only use a tiny percentage of our brain power."

"Miracles? Yeah, there are lots of unexplainable things that happen in this world. I think anything's possible."
