The Convent

Remember BBC 2’s The Monastery?  Well, now the Sisters have joined in!

The Community of Poor Clare Sisters in Arundel

Following the success of last year's The Monastery programmes, a four part series was screened in June and July 2006 following four ordinary women who endured forty days and nights of convent life.  The women freely gave up their everyday lifestyles to embark upon a spiritual journey with the Poor Clares in Arundel.  Offering a remarkable glimpse into the inner workings of religious life, the women spent their time in a world without material possessions, where the pressures of modern life were left behind.

Cut off from the outside world, they shared the daily routine of prayers and work with the Sisters in an attempt to discover if life has any greater meaning.  This series explored whether the age-old values of the nuns held any relevance to modern women and whether or not this experience had the power to transform their lives.

Life4seekers worked in partnership with the Sisters and the BBC to provide free materials for viewers. Please feel free to download the materials offered below.
